The Richmond Hill Exchangite

September 4, 2004                                                                                                                                                     PO Box 967, Richmond Hill, GA  31324

Our next regular meeting, Wednesday Sept 8, will be held at the Magnolia Grill, at Noon.  Mark Bolton is our program chairman for this meeting, and has an interesting program planned, so be sure to come, and bring a prospective new member too. Raleigh Bacon will provide our program for our second meeting of September, on September 22, and is planning an entertaining program for that meeting as well. Club members will be serving as acting Program Chairman for one meeting during this year. By doing this, we are able to tap sources of interesting, entertaining, and informative programs from a wider variety of sources, and everyone has a chance to get involved in the operation of the club. Assignments have been announced through December, and will be announced for January through June in October, 2004.

The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival

The Sixth Annual Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival is right around the corner, scheduled for October 15 Ė 17.  We will have a full booth to ourselves this year, which will give us plenty of room to prepare and serve. We will be serving our Universally Acclaimed and Highly Sought-After Jambalaya and Crab Stew, under the direction of Chief Chef's Harry Brigdon, Sr. and Mayor Richard Davis. We will also be serving cokes, iced tea, and coffee.  Festival organizers are expecting 25,000 or more people to attend this year, so donít miss this event. It really is a lot of fun. We will need lots of help during the festival, so expect to be receiving a call from our Festival Committee for an assignment of your work schedule.  Who knows, you might even be lucky enough to learn the secret ingredients that makes this stuff so popular.

Healing Fields and Veterans Memorial Dedicaton

Our club will be installing a Healing Field at the new Veterans Memorial dedication at J F Gregory Park on Saturday, November 13, 2004. We have ordered 150 American Flags to be displayed lining the walkway to the Veterans Memorial during the Veterans Day activities. We will be selling the flags to the public before and during the day of the event at a cost of $25 each. Following the official dedication of the Veterans Memorial, people who have bought the flags will be able to take them home for display at home on other patriot dates. Club members will be asked to sell at least four flags each, and we will also be able to take orders for additional flags on November 13, for people who did not get a chance to buy one prior to that. This program is being sponsored primarily in support of the City of Richmond Hill and the dedication of the Veterans Memorial, and is also a fund-raising project to help support all of our community service programs during the year. We Now Have Our Own Website

The Exchange Club now has it's own website. The website will be useful for giving our members up-to-date information on the club, and all our activities. It will also give us an online presence in our community. We will be able to communicate information to the public concerning all our community service and other activities, and it will be helpful in attracting potential new members as well. This website is being maintained at no cost to the club, and was designed by Lynn Bennett. If you have suggestions for other items to be included in the website, please let Lynn know. If you have an email address, and have not given it to us yet, or would like to update your email address, please email it to us at:
