15th Annual Fishing Derby June 4, 2005

Our club's 15th Annual Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 from 9AM to Noon, at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery on GA 144. Over the years, we are hosted over 2,500 area children plus an equal number of parents, grandparents, etc., and this year promises to continue that tradition. This is our longest-running project, and also one of our most successful programs. It is fairly labor-intensive, so we need the support of our membership to make it a success. Please mark you calendars, and plan to be on hand to help from 8AM to Noon on June 4. Registration begins at 8AM, and we will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs following the derby for our members. Awards will be presented to winners in several categories, and is open to all area kids, ages 12 and under.  Announcements are being run in all area newspapers, have been sent to all four local TV stations, and several local radio stations, so we expect a very good turnout.  An entry blank is included at the bottom of this newsletter, so please make copies and give to friends and neighbors, and post one in your place of business as well.

Installation of Officers and Directors

We will hold our installation banquet Friday, June 24 at 7PM at J F Gregory Park - in the Wetlands Education Bldg. All members and their spouse or a guest are welcome. We will be serving steaks prepared by Chef-Extraordinaire Harry Brigdon, Sr, and Mike Melton, and members will be asked to bring a covered dish vegetable or dessert. In lieu of the Installation Banquet, we will not have a regular meeting on Wednesday.June 22.

Our Next Board Meeting

Our Next Board meeting, scheduled for June 1 at 7AM, will be held at the Plumís Cafe, located on Hwy 17, near Richmond Hill Pharmacy. All incoming and current Board Members and Officers should do their best to attend. As this is a transition Board Meeting, it is especially helpful for the current Board and Officers to be present, and for the new Officers and Directors to be present to observe. We will be discussing upcoming events such as the Fishing Derby, as well as finalizing plans for the Installation Banquet

Please send in your membership dues payment as soon as possible.  Dues cover the operating expenses of the club, and assure that all other funds of the club are used to support our community service activities.
